The ECORES WIND consortium gathered at the premises of Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) in Madrid on 13th May 2026 for the project’s first official review meeting, marking 18 months of collaborative research and innovation dedicated to advancing circular solutions for the wind energy sector.
The meeting kicked off with a warm welcome and logistical information provided by Raquel Verdejo from CSIC, setting the stage for a day. Patricia Ares, the Project Coordinator from GAIKER, provided an introduction and a concise project overview, outlining the agenda and objectives for the day. She presented the current state of the project, including the progress made, concluded deliverables, and milestones reached.
The meeting brought together consortium partners, and Pablo Vicente Laiglesia from CINEA (European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency) acting as the Project Officer, to assess the progress achieved so far and discuss the next steps of the project.
We are proud to announce that ECORES WIND received very positive feedback and evaluation, recognising the strong technical achievements, quality of collaboration, and the project’s strategic approach toward developing circular resin systems for wind turbine blades. The positive review outcome confirmed the consortium’s readiness to continue with the next project phases focused on validation and implementation of the research results achieved to date.
Since its launch, ECORES WIND has been working to develop innovative circular resin systems and advanced disassembly strategies that can improve the recyclability, maintenance, reuse, and end-of-life management of wind turbine blades. By bringing together 13 partners including research institutes, universities, SMEs, and industry stakeholders, the project aims to ensure that the developed solutions are aligned with industrial needs and capable of supporting the transition toward a more circular and sustainable wind energy value chain.
Furthermore, during the Madrid visit the consortium held an internal Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) management and standardisation workshop led by META Circularity. The workshop established an important basis for future standardisation activities that will support the wider adoption of circular solutions across the wind energy sector, from circular design and maintenance strategies to dismantling, reuse, and end-of-life treatment of wind turbines.
The consortium also discussed the next stage of dissemination and exploitation activities, which will become increasingly important as project results mature. ECORES WIND partners will intensify collaboration with industry associations, stakeholders, and sister projects to jointly address common challenges and accelerate the uptake of circular approaches within the renewable energy sector.
Beyond the technical and strategic discussions, the review meeting further strengthened cooperation among partners and reinforced the consortium’s shared ambition to contribute to Europe’s circular economy and renewable energy objectives.
With a successful review milestone completed and strong support from the European Commission, ECORES WIND now moves confidently into its next phase of development, bringing circular innovation in wind energy one step closer to industrial implementation.
